After years of making the government unhappy, The Boeing Company lost the International Space Station Cargo Mission contract to the Lockheed Martin team, of which my employer is a part. Props go to the TBE management folks who realized that Boeing is currently out of favor with NASA and switching sides on the re-bid of Cargo Mission.

Why is this important? You see, Cargo Mission is the contract that employs yours truly. I think we were going to “win” either way, because I think Boeing would have had to come back to us for our core competencies in rapid-response manufacturing, but it’s certainly an outright win.

Needless to say, there was a nice sigh of relief breathed at work. As tasks switch from our current Boeing customer to our new Lockheed customer, I think it’s appropriate to thank our Boeing customer for being loyal to us over the years, and to wish all those folks the best in their new endeavors.
