As I mentioned in the previous post, I was researching BellSouth DSL options for my parents. I found that not only does BellSouth have their downgraded service—384 kBps downstream, 128 kBps upstream—available, but they also have a higher quality of service—goofily named “Xtreme”, like it’s 1996 or something—that not only gives you 3MBps downstream and .5MBps upstream, but also assigns you a static IP address. Cost above and beyond what I’m paying right now? $5.
I think I’ll be placing an order when I get home, especially if I don’t have to upgrade my modem.
